Pure Mourne Mohair
Our pure Mourne Mohair, soft and silk-like is spun from the fleeces of our adorable Angora goat herd, all raised and managed here on our farm at the foothills of Slieve Croob on the edge of the Mourne Mountains. So prolific in fleece production, our entire angora herd requires shearing twice a year, with our bucks yielding up to 10 kgs of lustrous silky fleece in each shear.
Our natural mohair is spun for us at a specialist mill, and includes only the fleece of our pedigree Angora herd, born raised and sheared in the shadow of Slieve Croob in the Mourne Mountains.
ALL MOURNE ALPACA AND MOHAIR YARNS ARE FREE POSTAGE IN UK AND IRELAND!
Our yarn is supplied with a very light mineral oil coating, which helps to protect the delicate fibres during processing and reduces static. This is easily removed by washing the finished garment. For best results, gently hand wash in warm water (about 30°c) using a wool detergent, and rinse in warm water. The key to preventing felting is to avoid any rapid changes in temperature, or too much movement of the garment in the water. After washing, roll inside a large towel and gently squeeze (don’t wring); or machine spin inside a pillow case and allow to dry flat. Never tumble dry!
