Pure Mourne Alpaca
£11.00 – £17.00
All of our 100% pure Mourne Alpaca yarns are spun from the fleeces of our pedigree alpacas here on our farm in the shadow of Slieve Croob on the edge of the Mourne Mountains. With the largest pedigree alpaca herd in Ireland, we are spoiled for choice in terms of colour and fabulous fine micron count in the fleeces we collect after shearing once a year.
Our natural colours are drawn from the entire spectrum of our herd, from dazzling pure white, through fawns, browns, blacks, striking rose and silver greys and now stunning appaloosa fleeces. Our fleeces, shorn in May and June each year, are spun at a specialist fibre mill, and exhibit all of the quality and fineness of our herd pedigrees.
ALL MOURNE ALPACA AND MOHAIR YARNS ARE FREE POSTAGE IN UK AND IRELAND!
Our yarn is supplied with a very light mineral oil coating, which helps to protect the delicate fibres during processing and reduces static. This is easily removed by washing the finished garment. For best results, gently hand wash in warm water (about 30°c) using a wool detergent, and rinse in warm water. The key to preventing felting is to avoid any rapid changes in temperature, or too much movement of the garment in the water. After washing, roll inside a large towel and gently squeeze (don’t wring); or machine spin inside a pillow case and allow to dry flat. Never tumble dry!
