Is She Or Isn’t She? Applying the Preg-Tone Pregnancy Detector.

In this presentation Jo and Thom will introduce the Preg-Tone Pregnancy detector and how ultrasound works in detecting pregnancies
We will discuss how this is used in livestock and in particular in alpacas. Covering when and how to scan, reliability and how this can be used as an essential tool in your breeding programme.


Joanne Bridge – Hilly Ridge Alpacas, UK

Jo has owned alpacas since 2012 and is also a BAS qualified judge. Jo has a herd of 57 alpacas in Suffolk UK.  Jo still works full time as a Police Officer and is looking forward to retirement in a few months where she will be a full time alpaca farmer.

Her previous experience as a veterinary nurses has also led to her interest in Pregnancy  detection using ultrasound in alpacas as a cost effective and reliable solution for livestock breeders .

Thomas Larsen has worked at Renco since 1990, manufacturing the PREG-TONE and other ultrasound devices for livestock. While the PREG-TONE started as a device used only on pigs, it has been updated to offer greater functionality for use on other livestock animals, including alpacas, sheep, and goats.”
